‘Recycled Fashions. Renewed Lives.’

Discarded to Divine 2010: Thursday, April 29

Each year, hundreds of designers contribute one-of-a-kind hand-made couture items created from discarded materials found at the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s Help Desk. They feature designers at all stages of their career, from up-and-comers attending local design schools to sensational local talents to internationally-known professional designers.

Since its origin in 2005, Discarded To Divine has helped rebuild the lives of through both direct service and increased public awareness. With help from designers and visionary volunteers, Discarded To Divine has become more than a fundraiser–it is now a movement that embraces charity and sustainability to restore the lives of those around us. Discarded To Divine is about renewing the lives of both the less-fortunate and those helping them. This year’s event supports the work that St. Vincent de Paul Society does with the poor and with the thousands of women and their children who suffer from domestic violence.
